Thanksgiving Classic

Growing up we had many family traditions, but my favorite may very well be the 1940's movie marathon that was always on TV. My very favorite of these movies is the amazing Bing Crosby & Fred Astaire classic "Holiday Inn". The very premise of having a little Inn in the country that's only open for holidays has captured my imagination since I was a young child. The movie goes through a year at the Inn owned by an entertainer trying to get away from the New York/Hollywood hustle and bustle. There's a musical number by Fred or Bing for every holiday. This Thanksgiving I wanted to share a little bit of this with you.

I found two great clips on YouTube celebrating Holiday Inn at Thanksgiving. The first is the scene in the movie where Bing celebrates Thanksgiving depressed and alone, talking back to himself on the record player. The second is a montage of still pictures that accompany the fabulous song in it's entirety.

I'm so thankful for my friends and family, theres a roof over my head, food in our tummies, and everyone is fairly healthy. I don't have to cook today, yes, I'm thankful for that as well. I wish you all a beautiful holiday, amid all of the holiday hustle and bustle, don't forget, that you've got plenty to be thankful for.
