2011 Travel Adventures (Pt 2)

May 3rd-8th
WDW & Disney Dream Land/Sea Vacation

With all of the reports rolling in across the web about he Disney Dream’s Maiden Voyage, it’s no doubt that I’m getting more than a little jazzed about my second trip of the year. At he beginning of May our roommate Erik and I are heading down to find out for ourselves just how fabulously sumptuous this cruise ship is. I’m excited to get this great travel opportunity and once again give all credit for this adventure to the ease of being able to book with my DVC points.

May 3rd - Our adventure starts with two nights on the concierge floor at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Erik is a California boy and this will be his very first trip to our Home Resort in Florida. After checking into our beautiful studio room, we'll head over to the Contemporary Resort for dinner reservations Disney's Signature California Grill. This will be my first time eating here since I was a kid and it was called "Top of the World." I have great memories and hope that Erik enjoys this special treat.

May 4th - With just one park day on the schedule for us we decided to spend day two at EPCOT. I want to minimize the comparison to Disneyland in Erik's mind, so I thought it best for him to have an entirely new experience. I think that he'll really enjoy everything that EPCOT has to offer, and we're looking forward to having dinner at the Marrakesh. It will be fun to see it all through his "virgin" eyes. As usual food & wine will be a highlight of this trip!

May 5th - On day three we’ll head towards the coast to board what will be our very first cruise! We'll board the brand new Disney Dream for a three night trip voyage. I must admit that I’m a little nervous as for what to expect but the more reports that come in from the cruise line the more excited I’m getting! I know for sure that I want to hit the Champange Bar “Pink” and try the signature Sparkling Rose’ that Tattinger designed especially for the Disney Dream. I’m a Bubbly lover and no doubt will end up here several times! I might even buy a bottle and have it sent home for me.

May 6th - Nassau Day, I must admit that I have no desire what so ever to visit Nassau and considered staying on the ship while it was in port. However Erik’s Grandfather used to own property there and he feels like we need to explore. Yea, exploring I’m not so up for, but perhaps we’ll head over to the Atlantis resort so that I can see the Chihuly Glass and we can eat lunch at Nobu.

May 7th - Cast Away Cay, I’m not a beach person but I’m really looking forward to Cast Away Cay. I want to do the 5K in the morning and maybe rent a wave runner or something, then take pictures around the island at have a nosh at Serenity Bay. I doubt we’ll spend the whole day here, but I’m sure it will be a great morning. Perhaps the afternoon will find me back on the ship at the spa.

May 8th - Always the saddest day, our return home. The ship will pull into Port, and we'll be headed to Orlando International Airport for our flight home. I'm hoping to get a little shopping done at MCO before we leave.

Since this is our first cruise I won’t be able to schedule activities until 75 days in advance, so stay tuned to find out what’s in store! I'm sure that you'll find me by night in Pink, and I can't wait to get piratey!

  1. Sweet, you'll be back in time for the chaos that will be my graduation dinner. Seriously though, every single picture I've seen of the Dream looks absolutely A.Maze.Ing!
