Chicagoland Meet-Up

Disney's Doorway to Dreams

Disney’s Doorway to Dreams in Schaumburg, IL was kind enough to open it’s doors early Sunday morning so that Chicago area bloggers could get a peek at one of Disney’s best kept secrets, the Disney Vacation Club.  In preparation for the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, we gathered to mix and mingle for a little pre-conference Disney fun.

We were greeted in the lobby with coffee and pastries to enjoy as everyone checked in and chatted.  In the lobby we saw models of the new Disney Dream Cruise Ship as well as a preview model for the newest Disney Vacation Club property, the Aulani Resort & Spa which is currently under construction in Hawaii.  This exciting property opens it's first phase later this year.

We were escorted into the back where they had comfy chairs set up for us to relax in as we introduced ourselves and talked about our favorite Disney memories.  We heard of little princesses twirling in front of the castle, romantic engagements, and special time with the Disney Characters.  Participants had vacationed with Disney around the globe and each one had magical memories to inspire the crowd.  As we each shared our Disney stories we were rewarded with a Disney Pin for our lanyards.

Laurie & MickeyThere were great raffle prizes given out including Vinylmations, the hottest new Disney Collectable, a year’s subscription to TouringPlans.com, and a gigantic Mickey Mouse Gift basket.  Laurie, our DVC Guide and Co-Hostess talked a bit about what the Disney Vacation Club is and how it can be a benefit to families who like to travel.  I giddily chimed in with what a wonderful experience being a vacation club member has been to me, and how happy I was to get to share it with other bloggers and Disney fans.  We watched a short video, and then were given a tour of the Bay Lake Tower models and left to mingle some more with each other.  Several of the participants spent extra time with the DVC Guides talking about the benefits of membership and what it offers.

I am so grateful to the Disney Vacation Club for hosting our meet and offer my sincere thanks to everyone that attended.  I had such a wonderful time meeting all of you and I can’t wait to connect again in just a week and a half down in Walt Disney World.  This was the perfect way to get the Disney magic flowing before the conference.  For those participants who won’t be at the conference I hope that we get the chance to meet again soon!  The Disney community is so close to my heart and I cherish each and every new friend.

Laurie gives away the secret!

One last thanks to my husband Geordon who was our tech guy as we Streamed the event with a chat room, and tweeted on the #DisneySMMoms twitter hash tag.  His tech geekiness helps me share the magic of Disney with everyone.

See you real soon!
